Shopping With the KingsChristmas 2022 was an exciting season for the Woodcreek Virtual Lions Club. In partnership with the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Hockey Team, Strathmore Lions Club, Cheadle Lions Club, Rockford Lions Club, Tina’s No Frills, Canadian Tire, Strathmore Co-Op, Agrarisk Solutions, the Kopp family, the Appleyard family, and On Behalf of Janice Gerbrandt and family were able to raise over $5000 for the Shopping with the Kings Charity Program.
10 local families were able to send their kids to shop with the Wheatland Kings for Christmas gifts, as well as receive grocery gift cards for the holiday season. The Wheatland Kings Hockey team also helped wrap the gifts, provided a hot dog lunch, gave the families a locker room tour, and the day ended with a family pass to the home game! This remarkable experience really highlights what being a Lion is all about, making some holiday magic happen! |
Hull Secure Services Christmas Fund The Woodcreek Virtual Lions Club was happy to support the Hull Secure Services Christmas Fund this holiday season! Hull Services is a leader in child and youth mental health services. Hull’s vision is for resilient young people and families to thrive within communities that support their mental health and well-being.
Many of the kids and youth in Hull’s live in or group care programs often do not see their families nor have any connection with them, they often spend the holidays in the care of Hull Services. To help ensure that every child and youth residing in our care will have a present to open on Christmas morning, Woodcreek Virtual Lions Club donated $500. Airdrie 1st Club Christmas HamperThe Woodcreek Virtual Lions Club was happy to support the Airdrie 1st Club (formerly Airdrie Lioness) with their Christmas Hamper project. This incredible program provides personalized hampers for low income families at Christmas. This year they were able to supply 357 hampers to families in need!
Sponsors are recruited and they purchase gift cards, toys, or give a monetary donation to help recipients. Gift cards will be given to families to purchase groceries for Christmas meals, as well as gifts for each immediate family member.
