Brown Bagging for Calgary KidsWoodcreek Virtual Lions Club is proud to support Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids! This amazing program feeds kids in 24 different community groups around Calgary Alberta. Volunteers gather to prepare healthy lunches that are directly delivered to kids in schools. They believe that kids deserve food. They shouldn’t have to worry about where it will come from, or when.
Currently, BB4CK provides lunches for kids and is feeding kids in over 2/3rds of Calgary’s schools, and already 2% of Calgary’s children. In some schools they are providing just one lunch and are feeding just one child, in other schools, they are providing lunches for every student. The lunches provided are free and barrier free. |
Westmount Emergency School Lunch ProgramWe are incredibly excited to support the Westmount School Emergency Lunch program this year. This invaluable program provides emergency lunches for students who are unable to bring a lunch to school. It is impossible to learn when you are hungry so this program supports students in their success.

Bert Church High School Reconciliation GardenThe Bert Church High School Reconciliation Garden is an incredibly meaningful project taken on in the face of great tragedy, when in the Spring of 2021 the Kamloops unmarked graves were found. Amy Stachniak a teacher at Burt Church High School wanted to do something to show our remorse and concern for Indigenous peoples - the idea that took root was to create a garden that would help us to remember the children, reflect on the legacy of the past, and encourage reconciliation. Along with high school students and Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers they were able to create a moving garden that would reflect reconciliation within our community.
Here are the students goals for their garden project: - To show our commitment to reconciliation by building and taking care of this garden. - Ensure that the garden respectfully incorporates different Indigenous cultures in our area. - Inform the community about Indigenous cultures and the need for reconciliation. - Create a place where the community could find peace and reflect on how we can make our community a better place for everyone. |
WH Croxford Art CollectiveThe WH Croxford Art Collective is an incredible program that allows students to think and behave as artists, as they navigate their way through real-world project-based learning opportunities. In an ever-changing world where future success will depend on adaptability and innovation, an education centred around the arts will help students develop a solid foundation of the 21st Century attributes so critical for the citizens of tomorrow. In the Visual Arts and Media Academy at WH Croxford, students spend half of each day all year immersed in an arts-based learning environment focused around visual arts, design, photography, animation, graphics, publishing, and video production. We are so excited that our donation will allow this program to purchase art display items like easels, rostrum blocks, and display panels for the program.
